With 195,000 employees (consolidated) worldwide and ¥1,987.1 billion capital investments made in fiscal year ended March 31, 2010, NTT is one of the world's largest telecommunications services providers, having a customer base of over 50 million in Japan alone. NTT's service capabilities include fixed lines and mobile communications as well as Internet and systems integration services. The company reported ¥10,181.4 billion operating revenues for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010.

NTT is listed on the Tokyo, London and New York stock exchanges and is ranked 31st in Fortune Global 500 List of July 26, 2010 issue.

Brief History of NTT Corporation

1952:    Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation launched
1985:    Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation privatized
1987:    NTT Corp. listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE)
1988:    NTT Data Communications System Corporation (now NTT DATA) launched
1992:    NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. (now NTT DOCOMO) launched
1996:    NTT DATA listed on TSE
1998:    NTT DOCOMO listed on TSE
1999:    NTT Communications founded

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation traces its roots back to 1869 when the telegraph was first introduced in Japan. NTT was originally established in 1952 as a government-owned corporation, and it was in 1985 that NTT was privatized. Since then, the company has been diversifying into new markets, forming new subsidiaries and developing leading-edge technologies.
